Beyond the entrance foyer, the main public area of the house on the first floor exhibits the concept of symmetry. White marble walls and black built-in cabinets welcome visitors, creating a visually striking and symmetrical effect. The coordinated soft furnishings further enhance the overall aesthetic.
The open area that serves as both the living room and dining room continues the theme of tranquility. The silver-marbled, segment-patterned flooring tiles extend to the walls, creating a seamless visual flow. The main wall, adorned with metallic warm grey and golden lines, adds an elegant focal point to the white space.
The private bedrooms, located on the second to fourth floors, offer a unique living experience. The master bedroom on the second floor integrates a study area, catering to the owner's request for a space to connect with the office through online video calls. The dark wooden desk and large wall cabinets create a cozy ambiance reminiscent of a coffee shop or retro bar, providing a space to unwind after a long day.
The sliding door in the study area features a pattern inspired by a famous painting by Klimt, cleverly concealing the bathrooms while maintaining a balance between practicality and aesthetics. The designer's meticulous arrangement and layout create an elegant space filled with rich artistry and colors.
The dining area, located in the second half of the open space, maintains the tranquil atmosphere established by the marble flooring and main wall. Circular lamps and fillets on the upper ceiling add a touch of smoothness to the space. The sliding door, made with a large black wooden grille, not only separates the kitchen but also allows light and communication to pass through, creating a harmonious and functional environment.
Li Hut Chin's Elegant Symmetry was realized in Yangmei District, Taoyuan County, Taiwan, from January to October 2020. The design project faced challenges such as incorporating the Klimt-inspired sliding door and creating a lively garage adorned with colorful artworks by the famous illustrator Jimmy.
This exceptional design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. The award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Elegant Symmetry stands out for its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
